WASHINGTON COUNTY — A 44-year-old man from Burley, Idaho, was taken to the hospital in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after his SUV rolled on Interstate 15.
A Utah Highway Patrol trooper witnessed the wreck just before 2:45 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway at milepost 31.
A white Lexus SUV veered off the road to the right, overcorrected to the left, and started rolling, ending up in the median strip.
“There were six people in the car, five juveniles and one adult,” Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said. “All of the occupants were properly restrained, The male driver sustained head trauma while the five juveniles sustained minor injuries.”
The driver was flown by Life Flight to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George in critical condition, Royce said.
“We believe fatigue to be a factor,” Royce said.
Traffic was limited to one lane northbound for about an hour.
Utah Highway Patrol, Hurricane Ambulance and the Life Flight helicopter responded and were on scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
