ST. GEORGE — The search for a 25-year-old man who went missing Wednesday morning in Orem has ended after police confirmed Friday afternoon the man was found deceased.
“Our family would like to THANK everyone from the bottom of our hearts for all the prayers, searching and support. Tyson has been found deceased,” the Cook family posted on the Help Find Tyson Cook Facebook page at around 2:30 p.m.
Police, family and friends had been searching for Tyson Cook who was considered endangered after he was last heard from at around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Following a two-day search, Cook’s truck was found parked just off Squaw Peak Road located in Rock Canyon Friday afternoon, Provo Police Sgt. Brian Taylor confirmed just before 5:30 p.m.
When Cook’s truck was located, family members asked for those searching for Cook to concentrate their search efforts to the area of 2620 N. 1200 East in Provo.
Cook’s body was located shortly thereafter at around 2 p.m., Taylor said.
“Investigators are handling that now,” Taylor said Friday afternoon, “but he was found deceased of a gunshot wound. We believe it was self-inflicted but they’re investigating carefully.”
