Barbara Davis passed away May 4. She was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Beaver, Utah, to Oleen J. and Rachel Robinson Davis.

In Barbara’s early years, she was raised between Beaver and Cedar City. In 1945 at the age of 16, she married James Dee Davis. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Feb. 12, 1973. Barbara was a tireless and hard worker, working at the city laundry and Turkey Plant. In 1968, she graduated from Beauty School and was a beautician for over 40 years.

Barbara was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served faithfully in the Cub Scouts and Sunday School for many years. She was family orientated and coordinated many family events at her home. She was instrumental in organizing and shaping the Davis Family Reunion, a tradition which continues after 40 years.

She enjoyed bowling and won numerous awards. She was a meticulous and organized homemaker who also took pride in her yard and garden. Barbara’s greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, James Dee Davis; three brothers: Lloyd, Carlyle and Gary; her son, James Mike Davis; and two grandsons: James Cole and Cody James.

She is survived by her sons: Lynn R. (Kari) Davis and Bradley C. (DeNean) Davis of Cedar City; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings: Ione D. Bonzo, Mary Sparrow, Jay Don Davis, Charlotte Weidemann and Mazel Kay Davis, all of Cedar City; and daughter-in-law, MaryAnn Davis of Moab.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be Monday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Cedar City LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 500 W. 400 North, Cedar City, Utah.
  • Visitations will be at the Cedar City LDS 4th Ward Building Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services.
  • Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery.
