ST. GEORGE — As the academic year draws to a close, Dixie State President Richard B. Williams will present his annual Dixie State University report and update for the final President’s Colleagues of DSU meeting of the Spring 2016 semester.
Williams will present on Monday at noon in Lecture Hall 156 of the Russell C. Taylor Health Science Center, located at 1526 East Medical Center Drive.
In his presentation, Williams will speak about Dixie State’s new Trailblazers nickname and new mascot, Brooks the Bison. Williams will also provide updates about Dixie State’s new strategic plan, new academic programs, campus growth, new construction and more. Following Williams’ presentation there will be a question and answer session.
Williams was announced as the 18th president of Dixie State University on July 17, 2014, and began his term on August 11, 2014. Under Williams’ leadership, Dixie State launched it’s strategic plan in 2015 and has since added baccalaureate degrees, started construction for new on-campus student housing, developed partnership programs with other universities, rebranded its athletic identity and had growth in many other areas.
A native of Brigham City, Utah, Williams holds a bachelor of science degree in lifestyle management from Weber State University, a master’s degree in athletic training from Indiana State and holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from New Mexico State University. President Williams and his wife Kristin are the parents of five children.
Starting October 3, 2016, The President’s Colleagues of DSU meetings will resume for the 2016-2017 academic year.
The President’s Colleagues of DSU, established more than 20 years ago by former Dixie State President Douglas Alder, is a group of retired professors and other professionals who live mostly in the Washington County area. Alder, who also started Dixie State’s honors program, organized the group as a way to increase academic activities on campus.
