CEDAR CITY – Multiple units responded to a collision Monday afternoon that left a driver with minor injuries and his ATV inoperable.

Several Cedar City police officers and emergency personnel from Gold Cross Ambulance responded to an accident at around 1:50 p.m. involving a yellow ATV and white Chevy Impala.

The driver of the ATV was an adult male, 46, while the vehicle driver was an 18-year-old female. Both parties were traveling alone.

Authorities said the collision was caused when the ATV driver tried crossing Main Street while heading west on 400 North and the vehicle traveling northbound on Main Street was unable to stop fast enough to avoid hitting him.

Cedar City Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Jimmy Roden said the ATV rider told authorities he did not see the Impala when he started to cross the street.

“The yellow ATV failed to yield to the cars going north and he just didn’t see the Impala,” he said.

sustained considerable damage and was inoperable.

“He’s okay, just got some bumps and bruises,” Roden said.

Jasmine Snedeger, who is engaged to the driver’s son, told Cedar City News her soon-to-be father-in-law has multiple sclerosis. His crutches were on the back of the ATV at the time of the crash.

The driver of the vehicle did not appear to receive any injuries but was visibly shaken up on scene.

No citations were issued to either party, Roden said.
