‘Mana’ recognition awards dinner honors Pacific Islanders making a difference

ST. GEORGE — The Southern Utah Pacific Islander Coalition is proud to announce the second Annual “Mana” Recognition Awards and Dinner. Held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott, 185 S. 1470 E. in St. George, this event will recognize, honor and celebrate those Pacific Islanders in our community who have made a difference.

These awards help emphasize the unique mission and objective of the Southern Utah Pacific Islander Coalition to promote health, youth development, education and artistic, ethnic and cultural preservation.  The public is invited to come celebrate the achievements of the following individuals and businesses that have made an impact in the following categories:

  • Law Enforcement | Detective Sgt. Ed Keil, Washington County Sheriff’s Office
  • Education/educator |  TEAMRAW Youth Outreach
  • Health care | Terina Taulogo
  • Business | Tony Christensen, Statera Wealth Management
  • Volunteer | Ken Rolfsness
  • Sports and achievement | Misiovala Tupe
  • Art/music/entertainment | Sam Lutui
  • Friends of Polynesia | Bill and Mona Given
  • Kupuna Legacy | Ko Piula and Vermine Haws
  • Spirit of Aloha | Alalate Uluave

“Mana” begins at 7 p.m. with a buffet dinner, followed by the awards ceremony.  A silent auction will also take place with all proceeds benefiting scholarships for students in Southern Utah. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door.

    That Kole Maile guy from TEAMRAW is probably the best man in Southern Utah. I have to admit that I have a man crush on him.
