HURRICANE — A wrecked truck is all that is left after a man fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a semitractor-trailer just north of Hurricane Exit 16 on Interstate 15 Sunday morning.
“The driver of the white Dodge truck stated that he fell asleep,” Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Taj Eldredge said, adding the driver of the Dodge drifted into the southbound right lane about 7:50 a.m., struck a semi and rolled into the right shoulder, leaving a long path of debris behind him.
The Dodge truck driver was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George for treatment of what UHP called minor injuries. He will be cited for failure to maintain a lane of travel, Eldredge said.
Units from the Utah Highway Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Hurricane Valley Fire Department and Leeds Area Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and quickly blocked the southbound right lane of travel. Traffic was slowed for over an hour and came to a complete stop about 9 a.m. for approximately five minutes while the wrecker pulled the truck off the shoulder of the road.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

That sucks, I bet that woke him up for a while. Was it a meth induced sleep?
Lucky to even be alive.
What? A citation?? But doesn’t falling asleep count as a ‘medical incident’? That’s basically a get-out-of-ticket clause.
Maybe that excuse only works with St. George police?
I don’t think so. but I’m sure you would be classified as a medical idiot
