Teen kickball tournament to celebrate ‘Kick Butts Day’

ST. GEORGE — The Washington County Youth Coalition is joining 1,000 youth groups nationwide to celebrate “Kick Butts Day,” a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out and speak up against “Big Tobacco.”

The youth coalition will be hosting its second annual free Kick Butts Day Kickball Tournament Wednesday from 3:30-6 p.m. at the Little Valley Sports Field in St. George.

Youth ages 14-19 are invited to participate in this fun sporting event designed to educate teens about the dangers of tobacco. Free pizza will be provided while supplies last, along with information booths, a live radio remote with B 92.1, prizes and free “swag.”

The Washington County Youth Coalition will be joined by the local Island Teens Against Tobacco group, along with Vincent Irving, head of youth activism for the Truth Campaign – America’s largest nonprofit anti-tobacco organization.

Other special guests will include Brittany Karzen, of Utah’s Policy and Control Program, and Joyce Ah You, of the Queen Center, dedicated to educating Pacific Islander communities in Utah on the negative effects of tobacco.

Ten players are required per team with single-elimination.
