Members of the Washington County Search and Rescue high-angle team were sent to the Little Galoot rock formation area of the park around 1:45 p.m. on a report of a teenage girl stuck on a ledge.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Darrell Cashin said when rescuers arrived on scene, however, they found a far more serious situation.

Two 15-year-old girls who left their Red Rock Canyon School group made it onto the cliffs, only to fall approximately 30 to 40 feet.

“They had been out there on a field trip,” Cashin said. “They were running away from the counselors at the school, and they got up on the ledges and both then fell.”

One of the girls sustained multiple cuts and bruises to her legs while the other teen did not appear to be visibly injured, Cashin said, although she did appear to be in pain.

One girl was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in an Ivins City Ambulance while the second was airlifted by Life Flight due to concerns over the possible extent of her injuries.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

All these injuries in Snow Canyon lately, the only sensible thing would be to ban Snow Canyon! Maybe designate the area as a NO FALLING zone- that should stop all these falls in the park! All I’m talking about is sensible shoe laws where people are required to register their shoes and complete a stingent training in how to safely hike in them.
We need to get with the program and join the rest in the world in getting rid of falls from heights. You don’t hear about people falling off cliffs in the plains of Africa, do you?

Wait, wait, wait. This is a SCHOOL?! If this is a “school,” and these are “counselors,” why on God’s green Earth would these young ladies feel the need to run away or escape from them? I mean, they FEARED these so-called “counselors” so immensely that they ran away from them, and didn’t notice the cliff they were about to run off of? That sounds more like CAPTORS than counselors. There’s DEFINITELY something wrong with this story. Young women SHOULD NOT FEAR THEIR COUNSELORS!!!

You are either uneducated on what the ‘school’ really is, or just an idiot. I’ll assume you just don’t really know.
This school, like many others down here, is really a troubled youth home. Wayward kids are sent there for reform. They run away because a lot of these kids are actually- runaways! They think it’s a game to try to ditch the counselors.
When a kid is forced into one of these reform schools, they are there against their will. Of course they don’t want to be there.
If you want to know the type of kids sent to these schools, think of the punks you see on Jerry Springer. That is the caliber of kid at these schools.
Now, chill out and just be happy that they aren’t loose in your neighborhood.

I’m starting to think that there is something very, very sick going on at this “Redrock Canyon School,” and possibly ALL of St. George, Utah. How is it that there’s not a single person who read this story commenting about how UTTERLY WRONG it is that these poor young women felt the need to flee their “counselors?” That is a very disgusting thing to have to read, and I genuinely fear for the girl’s emotional well-being if they’re forced to be around “school counselors” who make them so uncomfortable that they have to escape from them ON A FIELD TRIP. I will DEFINITELY be recommending this “Redrock Canyon School” to out-of-state auditor because I am NOT okay with this.

Is this like some sort of LDS concentration camp for young women who won’t convert, or pledge themselves to Mormonism? Because that’s what it sounds like. I just can’t believe that their isn’t a statewide investigation under way to find out exactly why these young ladies felt the need to ESCAPE from “school counselors.” This seems like a citywide cover-up for something much, much sicker than a “school.” I’ll be directly in contact with “Redrock Canyon School,” as well as the St. George Police Department and Child Protective Services to get to the bottom of this situation, and to find out just what in the hell this “Redrock Canyon School” REALLY is. To pay and hire counselors that the female students literally fear. This whole situation makes me sick to my bleeping stomach.

Folks it’s an addition recovery school. So, yes, ppl may not want to be there and may try to run away. When do teenagers ever think things are good for them anyway?

It’s all smoke and mirrors…they just don’t want you to know they use your tax dollars for antiquity removal. Life flight blades aren’t even turnin…the only care and attention that needed doctoring up were these photos!
