UTAH – Police are looking for possible victims of an alleged scam artist who has been taking advantage of people in Utah hoping to get a better night’s rest.

After receiving several complaints, police are investigating a fraud involving the purchase of Sleep Number beds from an unknown suspect possibly residing in South Jordan, according to a media statement issued by the South Jordan Police Department Monday.

The Police Department said it believes the suspect, going by the name Gene, Jim or James, posted ads on various websites selling Sleep Number beds and their parts.

“Victims reported the suspect required a deposit from prospective buyers after he showed them a demo bed, and promised to deliver a similar bed to the victim’s homes,” according to police.

However, once the deposit is handed over, the bed never arrives.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of the Sleep Number Bed scam or may have information about the scam is asked to contact the South Jordan Police Department at 801-840-4000.
