Collision on Bluff Street impacts evening traffic

ST. GEORGE – Traffic on South Bluff Street was routed into two single lanes Tuesday night following a two-vehicle collision triggered by a left turn.

Around 7:30 p.m., a woman driving a 2016 Cadillac Escalade SUV was stopped at the intersection 500 South and Bluff Street, St. George Police Lt. Rich Triplett said. As the woman entered the intersection with the intent to go southbound, her Escalade collided with a northbound pickup truck.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were rendered inoperable, leaving parts of the southbound lanes blocked for about an hour. Both the pickup and the Escalade had to be towed from the scene.

Traffic was routed through the northbound lanes while the accident was tended to.

No injuries were reported in connection with the accident. The driver of the Escalade was cited for failure to yield after a stop sign, Tripplet said.

St. George Police and Fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.
