WASHINGTON CITY – Two people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Red Cliffs Parkway and Buena Vista Boulevard Tuesday.
Shortly after 5 p.m., Washington County Police officers and other responders were sent to the intersection following a collision between a passenger car and a pickup truck, said Ed Kantor, public information officer for WCPD.
The driver of the passenger car, an adult woman who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was westbound on Buena Vista Boulevard and attempted to turn left onto Green Springs Drive while possibly attempting to beat oncoming traffic or a traffic light change, Kantor said.
While making the turn the woman’s car collided with an eastbound pickup truck occupied by two adult men.
The impact triggered the airbags in both vehicles and also rendered them inoperable, resulting in a part of the intersection being temporarily blocked.
The woman was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center with possible broken bones by ambulance, Kantor said. The driver of the pickup truck was also taken to to the hospital for evaluation.
All involved were wearing seat belts, Kantor said. No citations were issued at the time of the accident, he added.
Washington City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the accident.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
