ST. GEORGE – The driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was surprised with a new Toyota Tacoma pickup truck hood ornament Thursday during a two-vehicle collision at a traffic light in St. George.

The driver of the northbound Toyota truck was stopped at a red light at 100 S. Bluff Street when the truck was rear-ended by the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta, according to a media statement issued by the St. George Police Department Friday morning.

Thank goodness, the Police Department said, no serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

However, the new hood ornament didn’t come without a cost; the driver of the Volkswagen Jetta was issued a citation for following too close.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
