ST. GEORGE — Two hikers stumbled upon a body Thursday afternoon in City Creek by the Halfway Wash Trail in St. George.
Officers and firefighters were called to the scene near the Sunset InstaCare building on West Sunset Boulevard just after 1 p.m., St. George Police Sgt. Sam Despain said.
When they arrived, the hikers led them to the creek.
“What I can tell you right now is that we do have a deceased adult female,” Despain said. “She was found in the river in that wash. There were two hikers in the area who discovered this female, at this point our detectives are on scene trying to determine exactly what happened.”
It was unknown how long the body had been in the wash, Despain said, as well as the age of the deceased, time of death and identification.
More details will be published including video from the scene as available.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
