ST. GEORGE — Pine View used a strong finish in the upper weights to overcome two forfeits en route to a 43-30 win over Hurricane in Region 9 wrestling on Thursday at PVHS.
Down 24-21 after Hurricane’s Allen Madsen defeated Austin Petersen at 16o pounds, the Panthers won four of the last five matches to claim the victory.
“Tyler Heaton had a great showing,” Panther coach Jackson Linford said of his 285-pounder, who pinned the Tigers Gavin Atkinson at 1:06 of the first period. “This is his first year wrestling and I’ve been impressed with his development.”
Linford also praised Cash Day, who pinned Jaron Cordova with 1:14 in the second period after Cordova had started with a quick 4-1 lead.
“Cash Day had a lot of fight in him,” Linford said.
