ST. GEORGE — A St. George man had an extra special delivery sitting on his doorstep for package thieves this holiday season: a box filled with dog poop. A package thief took the bait Wednesday night and the whole ordeal was caught on video.
After reading a news report about northern Utah residents tricking would-be package thieves by placing empty decoy boxes on porches to deter thieves, Jaron Lindow said he liked the idea and it inspired him to find a way to play a prank of his own on the brazen crooks.
“I thought it sounded funny,” Lindow said, “so I filled a box with dog poop and left it on the front porch, and moved an extra security camera into place to make sure I had a good view.”
Lindow said the dog poop, packaged in an Amazon Prime box, was sitting on the porch of his Main Street residence in St. George for about a week before being stolen.
However, just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, an unsuspecting package thief took the bait and Lindow watched it all go down on video surveillance footage. The video can be seen in the player above.
While Lindow did post a link to the video on the St. George Police Department’s Facebook page, he said he doesn’t plan on filing a police report, as he said he doesn’t want to waste the Police Department’s time.
Lindow isn’t done teaching thieves a stinking lesson just yet. He said:
I’ve got a second box filled and sitting in its place already. … It’s heavy, so you know it’s either expensive, or books.

I wonder what the maximum punishment is for such a crime.. I still think that the police should conduct a sting operation with packages containing GPS tracking devices, and make some well publicized arrests…
