Region 9 basketball Media Day is streaming live right now

ST. GEORGE — Region 9 Media Day is today, beginning at 3 p.m., where we’ll hear from coaches and players from all six region teams.

The media panel will include St. George News sports editor Andy Griffin as well as Cherry Creek Radio’s Devin Dixon and Mike McGary.

Last season, both Pine View and Dixie emerged from region and made it all the way to the state championship game, where the Panthers defeated the Flyers by three points. Region 9 is expected to be strong once again and three of the top five teams in the rankings are from southern Utah (Dixie is No. 1, Desert is No. 3 and Pine View is No. 5, according to the Salt Lake media).

Andy Griffin has been in sports media since 1989 and has covered BYU, Utah State and the Utah Jazz as well as all sports in southern Utah. A journalism graduate of USU, Andy has carried on a dual career as both a sports writer and a sports broadcaster and has been heard around the country.
