Virginia Lucille Heath Barnum

November 4, 1926 – November 16, 2015

Virginia Lucille Heath Barnum of St. George, Utah, passed away Nov. 16, 2015, in her home. She was born Nov. 4, 1926, to George Talmage Heath and Dovie Armeny Billips in Senath, Missouri.

She married Onus Cleveland Duke, and they had four children: Kenneth D., Stevan L. and Patricia and Kathy, who are twins. They later divorced, and Virginia and the children joined the LDS church and moved to St. George, Utah. She then met Joseph Gillespie, and they married and had one son, Robert.

Joseph passed away, and a few years later, Virginia married her next-door neighbor Bud Barnum. They had some good years together sightseeing and going to the temple. He passed away, and again she was alone. Virginia enjoyed cooking and was an avid reader. She loved embroidery and doing
family history research.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Darrell and Kathy Duke, Stevan Lee and Barbara Duke, Patty and Tim Hafen, Kathy and Larry Wattier and Robert Heath and Tammy Gillespie; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Daniel and Clarence William; her husbands, Onus Cleveland Duke, Joseph Brian Gillespie and Vernon Bud Barnum; son-in-law Larry Wattier; and grandson Bradley Harper.

Funeral services

  • Graveside services will be held Nov. 20 at 12 p.m. at the St. George City Cemetery.
  • A visitation will be held prior to the service, 10-11:30 a.m. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1316 S. 400 East St. George, Utah.

Family and friends are invited to share condolences online.
