ST. GEORGE – The impact of a vehicle collision at 100 East and 500 South in St. George left a minivan on its side Friday night and resulted in one person being taken to the hospital.

Around 7 p.m., a minivan traveling southbound on 100 East ran a stop sign and collided with an eastbound SUV, St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said.

The impact caused the minivan to flip onto its side and airbags to deploy, also tearing off the front bumper of the SUV.

The crash blocked part of the southern portion of the intersection as St. George Police appeared at the scene, along with the St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.

The driver of the SUV was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George by ambulance, Triplett said, though he could not confirm the SUV driver’s condition. No one else involved required medical transportation.

The driver of the minivan was cited for failure to yield, Triplett said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
