ARIZONA STRIP – Authorities have released the identity of the man who died Monday evening in a single-vehicle rollover on the Arizona Strip just south of St. George.
Matthew Harris Putnam, 47, of St. George, was pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to administer CPR by first responders proved unsuccessful.
Putnam was the only occupant of the vehicle that rolled on Mt. Trumbull Loop at milepost 3, south of River Road in St. George.
Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies happened to be in the area, approximately a few blocks away when they observed a big cloud of dust, according to Mohave County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Patricia Carter.
At about 6:22 p.m. MST (5:22 p.m. MDT), the deputies responded to the scene and observed a Ford Expedition had rolled off the roadway, Carter said.
Life Flight responded to the scene to airlift the man to the hospital as deputies performed CPR. However, they were too late as the man was declared deceased.
Deputies were assisted by Arizona Game and Fish Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
Investigation into the incident continues pending autopsy results.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
