OPINION — You guys. Taste testing olive oil is a thing.
And there’s a store in St. George that does just that. It’s called Redstone Olive Oil and it’s tucked away inside the outlets on Red Cliffs Drive.
Let me make something very clear: I love making grocery lists, but I rarely find time to actually cross the items off of my list. And when I do, I get distracted by cute packaging and end up spending two hours (and $100) on Aisle 4 even though nothing on my list was on Aisle 4.
So why in the world would I ever make a separate stop to buy olive oil of all things?
Because I promised my co-worker I’d check it out, and now, four months later I have become a frequent customer who is obsessed with olive oil. (YOLO.)
See what goes on inside Redstone
At Redstone, they offer an expansive selection of olive oil and vinegars that were made especially for their specialty market. Whatever grade the bottle claims to be, Redstone can provide you the lab results that prove just that.
Plus, you can taste test all of them to find your favorites. (I recommend sampling the lemon white balsamic with the Tuscan herb EVOO – that is, extra virgin olive oil.)
Aside from cooking, I’ve enjoyed trying several different uses for high-quality olive oil. Here are my favorites:
- Bathing – Add 3 tablespoons to running bathwater for softer skin
- Make-up remover
- Remove paint off of skin
- Cleaner for sticky measuring cups
- Helps with snoring – Try sipping a small amount before bed
- Use as shaving cream
- Use as moisturizer – Especially good on sunburns, elbows, and knees
- Lip scrub – Try 1 teaspoon olive oil with sugar – my go-to remedy for chapped lips
I want to hear about your Redstone experiences! Be sure to let me know your favorite concoctions in the comments below.
