ST. GEORGE — The wind rarely ceased at Panther Stadium Friday night as Pine View High School took a 30-15 win over Manti.
Pine View improved its record to 3-0, which put them as the only remaining undefeated team in the 3AA South Region as the teams edge closer to region play.
Manti made the game interesting in the third quarter when Mac Stevens had a 3-yard touchdown run and Jordan Hughes ran in the two-point conversion to make the game 16-15 in favor of Pine View.
The Panthers would then go on to score 14 points unanswered behind Riley Livingston and Kobe Topalian in the fourth quarter to finish the game.
It was slow-going early, though, as Pine View’s Connor Brooksby kicked two field goals to put PV up 6-0 early.
Manti was first to find pay dirt as Braxton Good scored on a 3-yard run, putting the Templars up one point. That lead wouldn’t last long before Topalian would score from 1-yard out to put Pine View back in front.
Topalian finished with a career-high 159 rushing yards on 36 carries and Livingston passed for 81 yards and rushed for 57 more for the Panthers.
Pine View opens region play next against Snow Canyon Sept. 18 at Warriors Stadium.
