HURRICANE — Running a red light resulted in a two-vehicle collision in Hurricane Thursday afternoon. Two women were taken to the hospital, and traffic was slowed for almost 45 minutes as the accident was attended to.
Just before 4 p.m., a Pontiac Vibe was traveling west on State Street approaching the intersection at 3400 West, where an eastbound GMC Jimmy was waiting to make a left turn at the intersection, Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said.
The light turned red, and the Jimmy started to turn when the Pontiac ran the red light and hit the Jimmy head-on.
“This is based on witness accounts, statements provided and the investigation by the officers,” Buell said.
The woman driving the Pontiac was injured, as was the 20-year-old woman riding as a passenger in the Jimmy. Both women were transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George, and Buell said they were in stable condition.
The 19-year-old driver of the Jimmy had minor injuries but refused ambulance transport to the hospital.
All vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Buell said.
No citations were issued at the scene, he said, but the accident is still being investigated.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Ran a red light and no citations issued, sounds like Hurricane. Must be part of the right ward
