CEDAR CITY — A Cedar City man with four kids in the car rolled a Ford Taurus Wednesday night trying to maneuver a high-speed left turn from South Ridge Road to 165 South in Cedar City, allegedly driving under the influence.

David Lore Brown, 36, of Cedar City was arrested on scene and the children were transported to the hospital, one with minor injuries and the others for evaluation.

A call came in to dispatch at about 7 p.m., Cedar City Police Public Information Officer Jimmy Roden said. When the Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance arrived on scene they found the Taurus upside down.

“He was making a left,” Roden said. “He ran off the roadway to the right, he hit the curb, the vehicle rolled and it came to rest on the roof of the vehicle.”

Brown and the children were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, Roden said.

The children were transported to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City by Gold Cross. One was treated for minor injuries related to the crash, Roden said, and the other three were evaluated but there was no report of injuries to them.

For child privacy considerations, Roden would not disclose whether the children were related to Brown and would not say to whom they were released.

Police arrested Brown on charges of a class A misdemeanor for driving under the influence with a minor in the vehicle; two class B misdemeanors for reckless driving and no insurance at the accident; and one class C misdemeanor for not having a license in his possession at the scene.

As of 11:35 a.m., Thursday, Brown was still in custody at the Iron County Jail with a bondable bail scheduled at $10,000.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

DUI with children in cedar, oh well he will probably get off with 3 days in jail just like that cop did when he got his dui with his his children in a police car….seems fair…..oh and dang, another rollover….I hope he feels like crap that he was drinking and driving and his children got hurt, and never drinks and drives again!!! It could have happened sober but he threw in the alcohol factor and that’s all we are going to look at. Don’t drink and drive….plan ahead before you drink.

This guys fines should be a bit lighter because he was neither armed nor on his way to a shooting range.

It’s finally dawned on me why I’m continually tailgated and then passed by people who are flying around 10 to 20 mph over the posted speed – they’re all drunk!
