ST. GEORGE — One person was transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash on Snow Canyon Parkway in St. George Saturday afternoon.
At 3:45 p.m., the St. George Police Department responded to an accident on Snow Canyon Parkway in which two vehicles collided. The impact caused one vehicle to flip and the other to roll.
A man and woman in a Toyota hybrid had just made a right-hand turn onto Snow Canyon Parkway when they were struck from behind by a yellow Dodge truck, St. George Police Sgt. David Williams said.
“The driver and passenger of the white (Toyota) car thought they had enough room (to turn),” Williams said, “but the yellow truck came up on them rather quickly.”
When the Dodge truck hit the Toyota, it caused the Toyota to crash into the curb and flip, he said. The Dodge truck went through the median, taking out a light pole and then rolling down an embankment into a parking lot.
The driver of the Dodge truck was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. He was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center with injuries that were serious but did not appear life-threatening, Williams said.
The two people in the Toyota were wearing their seat belts, Williams said.
“Both are OK, didn’t even really get any scrapes from it,” he said, “which is quite amazing, looking at the wreckage.”
Both vehicles sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.
In addition to St. George Police, the St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.
The incident is still under investigation, and no citations have been issued in connection with the crash as this report is published.
Snow Canyon Parkway was closed while responders attended to the accident, for the safety of other drivers, Williams said. Traffic was diverted off of Snow Canyon Parkway onto 2000 North and just north of the accident onto Tuweap Drive.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Seriously ? The people in that Smashed car were OK ?
The campaign to use seat belts should use
the photo of the car upside down & the couple posing beside it .
A singe good picture with a caption ” OK because of seat belts ”
Is better than a long winded lecture .
Well the speed limit there is 40 mph. Most cars blow around me in that area at about 50. I’ll bet this guy was doing at least 60 – and not paying attention. (Driving St George Style)
Posted at 3:34, 3:42, 3:47, you fooled us all with your multiple names, but now we are wise to you. Man you are clever. Pure genius. But now what? Guess who’s parking mommies little dexter, please get off the dope. It’s past the point of making you stupid.
Well, he painted it yellow with a black racing stripe so obviously speed limits don’t apply to him. This is a real life Nascar whoohoo!
So because an idiot buy a hybrid, that exempts them from using good judgment when pulling out into traffic. I think not.
Hard to judge a safe turn with some clown doing 70 in a 40 and probably has their attention on an iphone…
It’s a real shame that an automobile gets damaged like that because it’s being driven by an idiot

REAL LIFE DORK I would tell you to get off of drugs but you’re already stupid so keep sniffing that glue
I have noticed that the view of the oncoming traffic in both directions is very limited because of the landscaping used on the sides and meridian.
