ST. GEORGE — Becker’s Hospital Review, a national health care review journal, listed Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George this week as tied for first place on its list of 53 hospitals with the lowest 30-day heart failure readmission rates in the nation.
The list was selected based on data taken from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Hospital Compare website and is from 2010-2013 (the most recent data available). Dixie Regional, Munson Medical Center (Michigan) and St. Francis (South Carolina) tied for the lowest rate of readmissions — 16.6 percent. According to the Hospital Compare website, the national average 30-day heart failure readmission rate is 22.7 percent.
Two other Intermountain Healthcare hospitals, McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden and Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, also made the list. No other Utah hospitals were included on the list.
