Carline Marsing Lefler

Lefler, Carline O(January 21, 1936 – June 29, 2015)

Carline Marsing Lefler, age 79, returned to her heavenly parents June 29, 2015. She was born January 21, 1936, in Duchesne, Utah, to Carlos Batrum Marsing and Thenelda Powell Marsing. She married the love of her life, Veldon E. Lefler, in Duchesne, Utah, on March 5, 1953. Soon after their marriage, she joined Veldon in Laredo, Texas, where he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. On January 30, 1962, Carline and Veldon were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS temple.

Carline loved being outdoors, fishing, camping, and hunting with family and friends. She would sit on the bank of the reservoir fishing with her family for hours at a time. Her family and family gatherings were very important to her. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served 18 month at the St. George, Utah, LDS church historical sites, and the bishop’s storehouse for 13 years. On service, she said, “I think that is what our religion is all about: service. And I will keep serving as long as I can.”

Lefler, Carline YCarline is survived by her husband of 62 years, Veldon Eugene Lefler; her sister, Pauline Bird of Duchesne, Utah; and her three children, Sharlene Imes, St. George, Utah, Ronald C. Lefler (Jaynee) Mt. Home, Utah, and Karen Doty (Chip) St. George, Utah. She had 10 grandchildren: Tonya (Allred) Stewart, Arthur Allred, Mike Allred, April (Altenhoff) Taylor, Erica (Altenhoff) Bown, Jason Lefler, Autumn (Lefler) Winn, Rashelle (Doty) Muntifering, Stefanie (Doty) Plothow, and Christopher Doty. She also had 24 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Carline is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Thenelda Marsing; her four brothers, Donald, Teddy, Kloyd and Glade Marsing; and one sister, Bernice Brierley.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary at 110 South Bluff Street, St. George.
  • A viewing will be Thursday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services at the mortuary.
  • Interment will take place at the Washington, Utah, City Cemetery.
