ST. GEORGE — Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship is hosting a fundraising car wash Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to send the children of the church to summer camp. The car wash is free, but donations are accepted.
The funds raised will help children attend Camp Cedar Crest, California, in July. The kids will learn life skills and life teachings, while enjoying outdoor activities such as swimming, archery, soccer, softball, basketball and hiking.
“We love being able to teach our young people about community service and show them the generous heart people in the community have when we seek to be a blessing,” Pastor Jimi Keston said. “As to the camp experience, it is such a joy for these kids to get to experience this wonderful facility and the time out of the heat while learning more about their faith in a fun setting.”
Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship sends six to 12 children and cabin leaders each year from St. George to join almost 500 participants from the Foursquare Southwest District.
“We fundraise so all our kids can attend and learn about earning their way to camp to make the experience something they worked toward,” Keston said. “Most of our young people come from moderate income families and several are from single-parent homes, most of whom could not get to do anything like this without assistance.”
Solomon’s Porch Foursquare Fellowship has raised funds each year for camp since 2007. Kestin said that in 2014, they raised over $300 dollars at the car wash. In addition, two people from the community stepped forward to sponsor a child, contributing another $400 and allowing all of the children to go to camp fully funded.

Christian summer camp? Sounds like fun
this isn’t really news… maybe put it in an announcements section?…
LOL, i guess this was one along with a lot of others… just noticed
should get a section going for events and fundraisers to separate from the news stories…
We actually do have an Events section, under the Lifestyle pull-down menu on our home page, fun bag. Here is a link:
http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/archive/category/life/events/
These will also post on the home page as news – but when you want to just find event stories, that’s the place to go.
We also have a category for fundraisers under our community announcements section as well. People are welcome to submit their own, and many do. Here is a link:
