SANTA CLARA – A 20-year-old man was transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George Friday after crashing on his dirt bike.
Around 7 p.m., Santa Clara-Ivins Police, members of the Santa Clara Fire Department and Ivins Ambulance responded to the hills just above Gates Lane where the bike rider had crashed in a dip while going down a hill.
“He had too much speed coming down (the hill),” Ivins-Santa Clara Public Safety Officer Chad Holt said. “ … He impacted with the next hill coming up.”
The impact resulted in the rider receiving a few broken bones and other injuries, though otherwise appeared fine, Holt said. The rider was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
The bike sustained some minor damage but still ran following the impact.
The hills above Gates Lane is a popular area with dirt bikers, mountain cyclists and joggers, Holt said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
