HURRICANE – Police and medical personnel responded to the scene of a fatal car-versus-pedestrian incident early Tuesday morning.

Around 5:10 a.m., Hurricane City Police officers were sent to the area of 300 North 35 West after the accident was initially reported.

“When they arrived, they found an adult male who appeared to be deceased, and was deceased,” Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said. “So that started initiating an investigation to determine what happened.”

Details of the accidents are still being investigated, though Buell said there appeared to be acceleration marks on the road, and witnesses said they heard the car revving its engine. There appears to be a possibility alcohol may have been involved, Buell said.

Hurricane City Police and the Utah Highway Patrol are currently investigating the incident, Buell said. As of 9:30 a.m., the segment of road between 200 North and Main Street in Hurricane was blocked off to traffic.

“At this point we’re still interviewing witnesses, interviewing people who were possibly involved, and trying to determine what caused this crash that caused the fatality; possibly alcohol might be involved.”

The name of the man killed in the incident has not yet been released by police.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Was somebody arrested? Why the disclaimer at the end of the story?

The Washco Bookings site is down too. Probably related to disclaimer.

Historically, in that part of Hurricane, and when a vehicle is involved, a death will be investigated and the killer found to be innocent by means of “out of normal routine” and “really a very nice person”. Further inquiry will be suppressed, and a GoFundMe acct set up.
We should skip the charade, drop the investigation, and just start with the #fundraiser already.
