SALT LAKE CITY – Funeral services have been scheduled for former Utah Gov. Norman Bangerter, who died Tuesday after suffering a stroke. Funeral services for Bangerter will take place Friday and Saturday in northern Utah.
According to a press statement from Bangerter family spokesperson Dave Buhler, a viewing will be held for the former governor on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the LDS South Jordan Parkway Stake, 9894 S. 2700 West in South Jordan. Funeral services will take place Saturday at the Salt Lake Community College Jordan Campus LDS Institute Building, 3431 W. Wights Fort Road in West Jordan.

In a statement issued Wednesday by the Utah Attorney General’s Office, Attorney General Sean Reyes said:
Norm was a great leader and public servant. For a long time, I was a fan from afar but became friends over the past few years with him. I appreciate the wisdom and advice he provided me with humility and genuine care. The State will miss him dearly. I will miss him. I wish his family comfort and peace.
Utah Republican Party Chairman James Evans released the following statement Tuesday:
As we mourn the passing of Former Governor Norm Bangerter this evening, I encourage all Utahns to honor his legacy and remember the enormous impact he had on the State of Utah. Governor Bangerter moved our state forward in spite of the many challenges it faced during his time in office. A cornerstone of Utah values, Governor Bangerter was not afraid to make tough decisions and did what he thought was right.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Governor Bangerter’s family and friends and we hope that they will find peace during this difficult time.
Bangerter, who served two terms as Utah’s governor from 1985-1993, was born in 1933 in rural Salt Lake County. He was 82 years old at the time of his death.
