ST. GEORGE — A motorcycle rider was injured and his bike wrecked when a car turned left in front of him Saturday afternoon on Dixie Drive in St. George.
Shortly after noon, a northbound Ford SUV was turning left into the Albertsons parking lot on Dixie Drive, just south of Sunset Boulevard, when the driver failed to notice a motorcycle that was traveling southbound, St. George Police Sgt. Albert Gilman said. The SUV driver turned left in front of the motorcycle and the bike struck the right rear door of the SUV with great force.
The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was reported as conscious but not fully alert after the collision. He was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
All passengers in the SUV were wearing seat belts and were uninjured.
The driver of the SUV was cited for making an improper left turn.
Units from the St. George Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.
