Desert Hills and Hurricane got Region 9 victories Friday, with the Thunder beating Canyon View on the Falcons own field and the Tigers using the home-field advantage for a win over Cedar.
Four different players scored for D-Hills in the afternoon tilt at CVHS. Brennan Stewart and Koby Imlay notched goals in the first half as the Thunder built a 2-0 intermission advantage.
There was more domination after halftime as Trevor Browning and Walker Heaton found the back of the net in the second half. Canyon View avoided the shutout with a goal by Jared Barrett. Thirteen different Desert Hills players have scored at least one goal this season.
The Thunder, 5-5-0 overall and 2-3-0 in region play, are at first-place Dixie Tuesday night. Canyon View, 5-4-1 and 2-4-0, hosts Pine View Tuesday night.
Out in Hurricane, goalkeeper Kaden Jackson and the Tigers defense kept Cedar off the scoreboard. It is Jackson’s 11th career shutout and the second of this season.
Kyson Spendlove scored twice and Dan Brubaker had a true strike as well to lead the HHS offense. The Tigers, 3-4-2 overall and 1-3-1 in region, host Desert Hills Wednesday night.
The Redmen, 1-7-1 and 0-5-0, lace them up Tuesday at home against Snow Canyon.
