CEDAR CITY – The Texaco fuel and convenience store at 1075 W. 200 No. in Cedar City was robbed at knife point early Friday morning, and police are looking for a man and woman in connection with the robbery.

The armed robbery occurred at about 6:30 a.m., according to a press release from the Cedar City Police Department.

Video surveillance shows that just before the robbery, a man and a woman walked into the store together and appeared to walk quickly around inside the store for about one minute before the robbery, the Police Department’s statement said. The female suspect then exited the store.

The man then approached the store clerk and demanded money, the female store clerk said, whose name is withheld for her protection as the suspects remain at large.

The man told her to hand over the money she had in her drawer, the store clerk said, and then he showed her his knife.

The knife handle was visible while the knife blade remained concealed inside his clothing, the Police Department’s statement said.

The clerk said she was terrified and that she gave him everything she had, but that there wasn’t a whole lot in her drawer as her shift had only begun a half hour before.

After giving him an undisclosed amount of money, the clerk said, the man ran out of the door. It all happened so fast, she said, that everything was still kind of a blur.

The two suspects got into what a witness described as a smaller white Chevrolet pickup, possibly a model 1500, single cab pickup with the Chevrolet logo clearly visible on the tailgate, according to the Police Department’s statement. They fled east on 200 North, the statement said.

“I am still shaking,” the store clerk said in an interview with St. George News around 7:45 a.m. “The store is locked up right now, and the police are here taking fingerprints – I just hope they get a good picture of the guy so that they can catch him.”

The store clerk said she was the only one on duty, except for the Subway sandwich vendor’s worker in the attached store. However, the Subway worker was in the back of the restaurant completely unaware of what was taking place in the gas station.

The man was wearing all black and his face was covered, the Texaco store clerk said, but he pulled the covering away from his face several times so he could talk to her, revealing himself to the cameras.

According to the Cedar City Police Department’s statement, the male suspect is described as follows:

… possibly a white male, although the clerk described specific features, such as black ‘poufy’ hair, which was pulled back into a bun or ponytail. He also presented with a darker complexion, although possessed a red and blonde mustache and freckles around his eyes. The male suspect was further described as 5’10” tall and heavy set. He was wearing black slacks and a black ski coat. He was also wearing a dark colored beanie and a partial face mask.

The Police Department’s release described the female suspect as Caucasian, wearing a pink jacket and possibly gray leggings. She was also described as wearing a darker colored beanie underneath the hood of her jacket, it said.

Police advise that anyone who encounters these two people should use extreme caution, and not approach them directly, because they are considered armed and dangerous.

Reports can be made to 911 for immediate assistance, and information about the identity or location of these suspects can be given to the Cedar City Police Department at 435-586-2956.

It’s time to rename that town to Knives, Guns and Drugs City. Put up the big letters of KND on the hillside.

Have you ever been to an actual city? This is a slow Easter Sunday by comparison.

Just waiting for comment that they had to be Mormons, pressured by Mormons, and not caught by Mormons.

You made the first jab. Now you just left the gate open. Hey 2014, how come businesses, like banks, have not updated those darn cameras. … has HD video for their cameras and they don’t even practice catching crooks nor do they prosecute. I worked for … LP. Great video of people stealing, but … never followed through with the cases. … horrible camera system, but they just upgraded. They also have a floor detective. … no LP horrible cameras, and no operators. … AWESOME LP program. Having security in place at a store should be a priority. It gives the patron peace of mind. Who wants to go to a store that gets robbed all the time.
      Ed. ellipses.

The fashion police is also looking for them. You’d think mama would teach them how to dress. On your next wallyworld visits, keep your peepers peeled open for them.

  • Frank December 27, 2014 at 9:27 am

They would have been easier to catch with a .38 hole in their foreheads…..

  • Mark December 27, 2014 at 9:46 am

  • Koolaid December 27, 2014 at 12:24 pm

From what I can see, they don’t look “illegal” to me.

  • ladybugavenger December 27, 2014 at 4:49 pm

How amazing are you?! I guess the police didn’t see the birth certificate you seem to see in the photo which, of course, shows they were not born in the U.S. Perhaps you should point it out to them. Stupid!

      • ladybugavenger December 28, 2014 at 11:08 am

Thanks for asking. I’m pretty amazing. Stupid? Sometimes. but I’m not the one that committed armed robbery. Happy New Year!!!

    • Koolaid December 28, 2014 at 9:07 am

      Definitely alien.
