PANGUITCH — The Garfield County Nominating Commission has announced the appointment of Timothy Byrne Smith to the Panguitch City Justice Court. Smith will replace Judge Martin Nay, who retired Oct. 1, 2014.
Smith graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy in 1995. He has worked as a pharmacist from June 1995 to the present. In 2001, Smith earned a clinical certification as a chronic anticoagulation care provider. He is currently enrolled in Western Governors University’s Master of Business Administration program in health care management. Smith has served as a member of the Panguitch City Council for nine years and as a member of the Coalition of Community Patchwork Mending for Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention for 10 years.
Smith’s appointment to the bench is subject to completion of the court’s new judge orientation and certification by the Utah Judicial Council.
