CANE BEDS, Arizona – Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two Arizona men Monday for possession of drugs.

At approximately 1:20 p.m., deputies responded to the 3000 South block of 1850 East in Cane Beds, Arizona, in reference to possible drug activity, Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Specialist Patricia Carter said in a press statement Tuesday.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a man, later identified as Stephen Alva White, 63, of Cane Beds, Arizona, as he answered the door, Carter said. Deputies immediately smelled an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the residence, she said, for which White advised he did not have a medical marijuana card.

“Deputies entered the residence and observed a plastic bag of marijuana, pipes with burnt marijuana and a small scale on the kitchen table,” Carter said.

White told deputies that he had more marijuana, the statement said, and during the investigation, deputies located a large, sealed package containing marijuana, a glass jar containing marijuana, several plastic bags containing marijuana and a wooden box with cash located inside a large plastic container.

“During a consent search,” Carter said, “deputies located a few pills identified as a dangerous drug.”

White was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana for sale; possession of marijuana; possession of dangerous drugs; and possession of drug paraphernalia, all felonies, Carter said. He was booked into the Mesquite Detention Center in Nevada.

Deputies also made contact with Nathan Barlow Hammon, 38, of Colorado City, Arizona, who was at the residence. Hammon was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. He was later released, Carter said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by the authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings. Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
