Rancher Cliven Bundy reveals new book, art commemorating BLM standoff

ST. GEORGE – At an event held at the Abbey Inn in St. George Friday night, rancher Cliven Bundy introduced a new book written by Shawna Cox and a picture painted by artist Jon McNaughton commemorating the events that took place at his ranch in Bunkerville, Nevada, in April between the Bundy family and the Bureau of Land Management.

“We are gonna fight, whatever it takes,” Bundy said. “We’ve got a job to do. Let’s get’er done. I want to do a tribute to the Independent party. I want you to look at this flag, and I want you to think of the Independent American Party. I see the Independent American Party pulling from the red, and pulling from the blue, and I see them pulling from these other constitutional parties, and I see America pulling together accomplishing something in the future. We have a future in America.”

The event, attended by about 50 people and hosted by the Independent American Party events committee coordinator Wayne Hill. Hill voiced his thoughts on why that standoff was important.

“I’m really, truly excited to be here tonight to help launch a couple of things that we haven’t seen before,” Hill said. “We started the Independent American Party to give you truth. I love people like this. It is amazing. You’ve got a guy here who gives his life to defend and to protect this family. What are we willing to do?”

Hill ran for Congress as an independent in 2010 and again this year.

Many of those involved in the Bundy-BLM believe that a higher power played a role in the incident. The book gives the perspective of Cox, who was present at the height of the controversy.

“This is the first time I’ve written a book,” Cox said. “Because of many wonderful things that I saw when I was at the ranch, I was there for two months. My book tells the story, but I knew in my heart that Heavenly Father wanted me to tell this story, because there was so many spiritual things that were taking place that the American people didn’t see.”

McNaughton also spent time on the Bundy ranch during the confrontation. A well-respected artist, McNaughton focuses his work on patriotic and religious subjects. His new piece features Bundy riding a horse, holding an American flag.

“I want them to think about what I consider to be the meaning,” McNaughton said, addressing the gathering via Skype. “The way that you look at it is really a reflection of the kind of person that you are. If you see racism, hate, oppression, religious diatribe, then you probably won’t like the painting.”

According to its website:

The Independent American Party’s objective is to express and advocate independence. This is in contrast to dependence and political systems which deprive the American citizen of their God-given inalienable rights.

Background

Cliven Bundy has been at odds with the BLM for over 20 years now. The BLM has said that Bundy’s cattle have been illegally grazing on government-managed public lands since 1993 when Bundy quit paying grazing fees. Tensions mounted and peaked in April 2014.

Bundy received several warnings to remove his cattle, being threatened that the cattle would be seized and sold at auction if he didn’t comply. Bundy refused to acknowledge the authority of the federal agency over the public lands. The tension between the two parties ultimately culminated in a standoff between the BLM and the Bundys and their supporters on April 12.  The standoff came to a peaceful end when once the BLM released the cattle it had already gathered.

Sorry Mr. Bundy but just because you didn’t want to pay your fair share like every other rancher and then rebelled doesn’t make you some hero. The people in Ferguson, MO are rebelling too, for much the same reason, people just can’t accept the consequences for their actions.

    • laytonian December 6, 2014 at 11:50 am

      Bingo.
Cliven has lied about so much already, like claiming his family settled that land in the 1800s…when, in fact, his father settled on the Bunkerville melon farm in 1946. Cliven’s daddy didn’t even graze on federal lands until he took a permit out in 1954 AND daddy always paid his fees.
Cliven could always graze his cows on his own land (which is a melon farm)….but no. He wants to live off the taxpayers.

Yet, despite being a fraud, a liar, a tax cheat and scum bag, such a revered icon of the sheeple of Utah.

        • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 3:57 am

Kool-aid, it’s disgusting that you can call a guy a scum bag that is sticking up for you. Did you ever read the comments response to the article you commented on about the rancher that died in the pony express protest? I’ll report the link if you can’t find it.

The scumbag is not sticking up for me, nor does he represent me in any way. This guy is the pinnacle of scab and a leech and a cancerous lesion. Yes, you are right. I feel no sympathy for loss of any bundy supporter. They push women and children to face off against police while they hide.

          • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 12:45 am

Scroll down, I responded to that inflationary statement of yours in your other post. Bundy didn’t push women and children to front lines. That’s stupid dude. Did you know Law enforcement tasered and body slammed women of the Bundy Family and supporters.?

        • Roxy December 7, 2014 at 10:31 am

It’s Nevada not Utah. Glad you are up to date on your facts.

      • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 3:49 am

Laytonian, government beaurocracies live off tax payers. Bundy is not. If all your … taxes were used right, it would fund lands and ranchers to do their work. 90% of Western States are federally owned land. You’ve got to be dumb to want to pay the govt more money so they can take more land. The BLM spent $2million on that operation against Bundy in April, when he doesn’t owe more than a few hundred thousand, most of which is charged interest, and of which they didn’t get. They just destroyed his land and killed some cattle instead.
Seems like after all this time they’d take him to court. Is it possible they haven’t because they don’t have a case against him? Don’t people usually get taken to court or is their a standoff each time? No court, just bullying in the desert. Explain that. I have paperwork of some of the legal history. Want to see? I’ll be posting less commonly known facts about this later on..

Beef prices are at all time high, do you really want to let the govt shut down another local food producer. You’re digging your own grave and we’ve done what we can to save you. Gotta move to the next lost soul.
        Ed. ellipsis.

        • URWRONG December 8, 2014 at 2:26 pm

“90% of Western States are federally owned land”

You might be making s**t up here, big boy. I think you meant to say

“90% of federally owned land is located in the Western States”

          *Ed. ellipses

          • modigliani December 8, 2014 at 6:01 pm

making up s**t is always good when you don’t have a better argument…and Truthboy is running on empty.

          • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 4:24 am

To be clear, nation’s 13 western states are home to 93 percent of federal land, according to 2010 agency data compiled by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service. .

Also, 90% of Nevada is owned.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 3:45 am

Momsfordancing, it looks like you’re for the rights of people here on the dancing issue, so that’s a good thing. Maybe you can understand more of the Bundy rights versus govt control. You are repeating a mainstream news talking point as your opinion, in that he doesn’t pay his taxes.
First of all, just because others are paying their taxes doesn’t mean they should. Not all tax is legit. Sovereign Nevada and United States aren’t the same thing. Many other ranchers are on his side. This is about shutting down self sustaining Americans and a govt power grab. Ranchers and small farmers are getting shut down everywhere as part of an agenda.
Second, he does pay taxes and fees. To Clark County and NV, the only place he should pay. It should be state land. The BLM didn’t even exist when his family began grazing. I’ll be responding to others on this comment section, but when you use and maintain the land, you have grazing rights to it, as he has had and was given written permission by the govt to use. The arbitrary fees and regulations pushed since 1993, since Clintons environmental stuff, is about limiting the people’s use of land to prime for pushing us into cities. The federal government owns 95% of Nevada land. Don’t you think that’s enough? And the Bureau of land management doesn’t own land, even if they act like they do, they manage it and spend your hard earned tax dollars in ways that makes a tax cheat look like a hero. Stop sucking up to your socialist saluting establishments that have co-opted your ability to think freely and love liberty..
I will be posting more of the story you have to heard from the news once I get through other responses.

  • PROTECT THE SHEEP December 6, 2014 at 11:01 am

he should paint a picture of Obama as the big bad wolf and Bundy can be little red riding hood.

  • modigliani December 6, 2014 at 11:14 am

What a load. ” I knew in my heart that Heavenly Father wanted me to tell this story, because there was so many spiritual things that were taking place that the American people didn’t see.” Sometimes the things published here are just plain insulting to an intelligent person.

  • laytonian December 6, 2014 at 11:20 am

Is the caption “Now let me tell you about the Negro”?

Poor Cliven. Is he a flag-waver because he’s a military veteran?

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 3:58 am

Laytonian, his comments on African Americans was taken out of context after the victorious stand off to try and discredit him.

      • Aaron J December 7, 2014 at 1:38 pm

“They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”… Just for the benefit of the doubt, I challenge you to tell me what context that isn’t racist? I’m not saying we should demonize him because he is racist, I expect nothing less from an old cattle rancher in the west. I would hardly have assumed he has innovative anti racist thoughts. But that doesn’t mean he was taken out of context. His comments were extremely racist, but I don’t think anyone was surprised. but I am curious what context you think he meant it in.

        • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 9:07 pm

The ‘they’ he is referring to is the ruling elite and govt goons. They have aborted 53 million African American babies in the past 35 years. They lock up more African Americans on more harsh sentences. Their perceived freedom from slavery transferred to a new form of slavery, where physical slaves turned to mind and debt slaves controlled a such as before. Physical slaves were at least housed and fed. Now, even with welfare, lower class and minorities are in bad shape. Bundy was sympathizing with them. Do you see now?

          • modigliani December 8, 2014 at 6:02 pm

            Nope.

      • laytonian December 7, 2014 at 5:58 pm

Bundy was NOT taken out of context. I heard what he said, and re-listened because I couldn’t believe it.
He was also proud of every word.

  • real life December 6, 2014 at 12:14 pm

Momsfordancin your something ignorant aint yah? What other rancher? All them other outfits on them mountains paid there fees and there gone. And that Ferguson comment completley uurelated. Heres a man trying to defend his livlihood ( that was taken from others like him) and them people in Ferguson rioting and robbing and hurting the innocent. All on some ignorant crusade. Just ignorant pawns collecting more like youself.
    Good Day

    • modigliani December 6, 2014 at 4:33 pm

          Well, there’s the answer.

  • Missy December 6, 2014 at 1:01 pm

    What a joke.

  • Dee December 6, 2014 at 1:07 pm

Oh sure. Cliven is SO picked on. Why didn’t he show up in Ferguson or in many of the other protests in support of Ferguson around the country? Oh, that’s right, “Let me tell you about the black man…” Perhaps he didn’t show because tax payers didn’t buy him a “white sheet” outfit.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 3:59 am

Dee, you don’t know much about what he was trying to say with his original racial comments do you? If calling him racist is the best the establishment can do to take him down, then they have no case. Anyone that disagrees or is political competition to the govt, is somehow always called racist. Totally bogus. I’m racist because I believe in limited govt and the ideas of the Constitution then. I’m a racist haha. Such BS.
Just like the govt is calling people terrorists any chance they get. Recent legislation the past 13 years was designed to stifle legit American dissent and to protect a criminal runaway govt from it’s own shortcomings.

  • outbythetruckeessilveryrills December 6, 2014 at 1:16 pm

Oh and while im at it laytonian. Cows have been out on them mountains since his ancesters and my ancesters got to that valley. And they were free to graze on them hills then. Livin off tax payers? Give me a break. Your tax dollars (and grazing fees for that matter ) havnt done mr bundy or any rancher for that matter any good. Infact in Nevada that money goes to making things harder and putting Ranchers outta buisness. So you my friend can kick rocks too

  • Burton December 6, 2014 at 2:11 pm

I am glad that ranchers are making money off the “BLM”s incompetence. The “bullies of land management” can take their federal agency and stick it. The control hungry Fed’s can turn the land back over to the states control where it belongs.

    • Gigi December 6, 2014 at 9:23 pm

Clearly you have been brainwashed by the oil/gas, mineral industry because they are the ones pushing for federal lands to be bought out or turned over to the states, so they can then take the peoples land away from us. The problem is the financial burden of upkeep of these lands would then shift to the people living in these states in form of new taxes.

      • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:01 am

Gigi, tell me about this financial burden of the upkeep of natural desert habitat. Haha Tell me what it costs to maintain… It doesn’t cost anything except the sweat, blood and tears of the Bundy Family and to naturally let it maintain itself. Don’t tell me cow dung is bad for the land, or the desert tortoise that thrives when they’re is more cattle and sheep manuer. What’s bad for the land is the govt testing atomic bombs on it. Think a bit more before you speak.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:00 am

Burton, don’t let them silent you. Keep doing your duty to inform the child like citizens of this nanny state nation.

    • Dana December 7, 2014 at 5:44 am

Back to the state’s where it belongs? So it can be strip mined? Trashed? Lease it off for drilling and fracking? Then, when the land is completely compromised, poisoned and polluted and cannot be safely rehabilitated, what will the states do with it? Oh, I know….ask the Feds to give up taxpayers money to clean it up.

  • Roxy December 6, 2014 at 3:19 pm

Seems to me that the ones making the negative comments are unaware. Ignorant of the United States Constitution and ignorant of the facts, just my opinion. They can keep upholding what the government is doing and sit back and take it, or stand behind the last man fighting the corruption of an ABC agency set forth by our government to stomp out the “small guy”. If they think our government has their best interest at heart they are sadly mistaken and their children and grandchildren are going to have to deal with it when they are dead and gone. Just my opinion. Many thanks to the Bundy family and all the Patriots who put their lives on the line for the stance against this big corporation known as our government.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:02 am

Roxy, Truth, you are correct. I am in total support. Will you be there for the next one? I will be. It was historical and we need to also show support at other ranchers in Texas, AZ, and northern Nevada also getting shut down.

      • Roxy December 7, 2014 at 10:46 am

Please explain to me why you “big gubment is bad” types had no problem with “big gubment” under the Bush regime…

      • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 11:40 pm

Joe Smith, you keep mentioning the Repugnant preside the and and trying to make this a left right false fight. The left right paradigm is a way to give people the illusion of of choice. Republicans and Democrats are ran by the same people. Both sides presidents have the same bosses. I have the same criticisms regardless of of who’s president, including Bush.

      • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 11:43 pm

        Typo, Republican.

Why do you continue to give this thief a platform to voice his ignorant opinions?

    • modigliani December 6, 2014 at 5:08 pm

You’re not the only one who wonders this? Seems as if there’s a lot of selective thinking about which law-breaker gets a free pass and which one doesn’t. I’m really curious about what the criteria are for those free passes.

      • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:04 am

Modgilian, Tell me a law Bundy broke. Do you think the govt follows the law? Do you think there weren’t immoral things the govt has done during this whole thing?

        • modigliani December 7, 2014 at 10:34 am

Immoral is not the same as law-breaking. Look it up.

          • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 11:45 pm

You’re only being a smart ass. I know the the difference fool. Those Those are two separate questions. The govt doesn’t follow the law. And also what they did was immoral. And I asked asked what law Bundy broke.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:03 am

Chris, because in this country, we still try to allow people a platform to speak. It’s called the first amendment. Free speech and FREE PRESS. Wake up and stop dogging him unless you want to live where people weren’t given a platform, Nazi Germany.

  • utahbiller December 6, 2014 at 4:07 pm

I have wonder where some of these folks went to school?

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:05 am

Utahbiller, is school relevant? – people obviously aren’t taught what the Bundy Family knows because people can’t even recognize an American when they see one on the front to lines along with a thousand other liberty lovers standing in front of armed federal mercenaries at the Bundy Ranch.

      • modigliani December 7, 2014 at 10:13 am

I don’t think Utahbiller was referring to Bundy here but the illiterate writing in too many of the comments.

You’ve been a busy writer overnight, Mr. or Ms. Truthseeker. Are you Cliven Bundy in disguise?

    • George Bush December 9, 2014 at 1:04 am

What makes you think they went to school.?

  • Delong December 6, 2014 at 4:18 pm

You gotta be a complete moron to buy that book. I could however, see Burton buying it. He’s not smart enough to see Bundy is cheating him and every other taxpayer.

    • Burton December 6, 2014 at 6:41 pm

So let me get this right here genius. You think Mr. Bundy is cheating you out of something, your “tax” you pay. And you want the almighty federal government to step in and put a stop to it, but you ignorant federal loving liberals are perfectly ok with the Fed’s taking your money you earn whether you like it or not and telling you that they are so smart and you are so incompetent to invest your money they will put it into an “account” for you and give it back when they deem you are worthy of it. And all you Bundy haters are completely ok with that!? Because all of to you think the big government is going to take care of you. You never whine about any agency spending hundreds, thousands, and even millions of tax dollars on hookers and booze. Or your beloved president flying around golfing and vacationing on tax dollars. Or how bout the federal Science agency out of Colorado who spent $25,000 on a Christmas party and $11,000 on gourmet coffee last week? Why aren’t you whining about that!!!???(sorry I said “Christmas” I am sure it offended you). If you justice chasers really want to go after the criminals who are costing this country money I suggest you pull your heads out of you know where and start looking at the real problem. Your federal government. You can start with tax cheat Timothy Geitner. Have you ever heard of him there “Delong”? He is a guy your president appointed to Secretary of the treasury who wasn’t even paying his taxes. How come your not crying about these tax cheats? But some lowly rancher out in the middle of nowhere is the problem that’s gonna bring this country to its knees. Oh, and yes. I will buy the book to support anyone who stands up against the federal government bullies and cheats. Educate yourself before making ignorant comments.

      • Joe Smith December 7, 2014 at 4:32 pm

This type of corruption in federal spending is nothing new, but you had no problem with it when W Bush was pres did you? And Geitner worked for Bush. And I’m sure if the next pres is a good little Republican boy like Bush you with go back into your happy little slumber and ignore it all again like you did under Bush…

    • Burton December 6, 2014 at 8:46 pm

By the way there Delong. Social security is going bankrupt because the people you trust so much took your money and spent it like they said they wouldn’t do. And I am the stupid one cause I don’t trust the Fed’s. You and people like you are the fools.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:06 am

DeLong, the govt cheats you. This is supposed to be a state issue, and Utah has nothing to do with it. Let Nevadans speak for Nevadans. Regardless of the books content, it’s a way to support someone and their cause. I’d like to know what … you stand for.

    • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:07 am

Kool-aid, he didn’t push women and children to the front lines, they were willing to stand up for what they believe in, and WHY IS THAT DANGEROUS IN YOUR EYES? – BECAUSE IT WAS THE MILITIRAZED FEDS HAD GUNS POINTING AT THE PROTESTERS!!! Kool-aid, what are you talking about? – tell me what terrorist killed anybody? Be specific.

        • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 4:31 am

Kool-aid, tell me what anti-governmrnt type committed real acts of terrorism. And don’t include Timothy McVeigh. What long history? Th anti government types that you like to call people, does that include the the founding fathers of this country and do you think they were terrorists like the new DHS and police are trained to to think now.?

      • modigliani December 8, 2014 at 7:02 pm

Do you even know what happened at the standoff? There are plenty of places to read about it and it was armed protesters (armed!) and armed feds. So who was pointing guns at who? May I ask whether or not you have ever been sucking on the end of a fed gun barrel? I didn’t think so. But you’re sure afraid of something, pal. Get a grip. And have a nice life.

        • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 4:38 am

Educate yourself on the time line of of events. An agency that should not have hundreds of fully armed agents including surveillance and snipers snipers and helicopters and local Swat and metro, all for one family. They were armed and point guns at protesters for a week. The rightful Militia didn’t arrive until that day. And we’re in in the back and other single defenseman in intimate back. No one else marching on the gates were armed armed with the AR15s.. So the Feds were saying Lawful order to fire on protesters, of which were unarmed.

        • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 4:42 am

And no I I don’t kiss boots or such on Gun barrels thst the the govt shoves in our faces. I’m not subject to their bogus jurisdiction

  • All In Call December 6, 2014 at 5:38 pm

On a related subject for your consideration,
What would you do if a federal division of the United States edited that starting on certain date, no one is allowed to set their feet on any public land in the state of Utah without first gaining permission from a in charge federal overseer? For more information, see the new law in the Federal Register, paragraph 4000 of Section Z.9
Anyone voicing a complaint concerning this new law will not be allowed to receive any stimulus funds the government and will be shot hence forth if he/she persist in violation of this new law.
(for a fee, a day pass will be granted to those who bow to the gate keeper)

    • modigliani December 6, 2014 at 8:20 pm

I could find this on the Federal Register site. Could you give a more specific reference or a link to it. Thanks…

      • All In Call December 6, 2014 at 11:06 pm

Modigliani, I was just joking about it being in the Federal Register already. Just making a point that anytime the ruling class wants to lord it over of a free people they will. With or without your permission. You question them, your in big trouble. If the folks don’t stand up to them and shove the Constitution down the throat , it’s their own fault.

        • TruthSeeker December 7, 2014 at 4:07 am

All in Call, yes, it’s crazy the control the govt has.

          • Koolaid December 7, 2014 at 11:25 am

Unlike the armed guard around bundy who control access to public lands in that area?

      • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 12:03 am

Kool-aid, the Feds keep you from access of that land. When Bundy was there he allowed people in the desert but the Feds didn’t. The volunteer militia were protecting Protesters from federal snipers idiot.

        • liar teller December 9, 2014 at 7:04 am

That’s a bunch of bull! The wannabe militia is harassing everyone who ventures on those public roads, stopping cars and checking IDs. Impotent sheriff can’t and won’t do anything about it.

  • outbythetruckeessilveryrills December 6, 2014 at 8:16 pm

Whats kinda disturbing in all this. Is that Blm and whatever other “authorities” they had there. Were prepared to fire on there own citizens. And every … one of them would have. Not one had the courage to say this is wrong. Firing on people because of cattle is wrong.
So where does that leave us? We have come to find the reason behind the second ammendment

He owes not only years worth of fees but other taxes as well. The next time I see his picture in the paper hopefully he will be in shackles and being led off to prison. He uses roads, his kids and grandkids go or did go to public schools but he doesn’t believe in paying his fair share and laughs at those of us who do. He is an out and out bum. Why hasn’t the LDS drummed him out? Do they support his antics? People have been excommunicated for far less.

    • All In Call December 6, 2014 at 11:10 pm

All in call, yes, I plan on posting links on more of the story, like with Harry Reid and sons involvement. I have to post these responses first.

        • modigliani December 7, 2014 at 10:18 am

Really? You HAVE to post these responses, all of them, first? Who’s holding a gun to your head to do this? Ah, the Bundy band, I guess. What’s in it for you, Truthseeker. Obviously you’re not just doing it because you seek any truth. You’re on the other side – pushing your point of view or somebody else’s. That’s a far cry from “seeking.” Guess somebody gave you a list of things to write in response to legitimate comments on this article. Were you paid well to do it?

          • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 12:07 am

Modgilian, seeking truth like doing some research to find find the hidden truths and look at both sides of the story. Yes I’m I’m truthseeker. Wayseer. And info feeder. I’ll be posting links if you check back. You’ll probably try discrediting the info based on the source

        • laytonian December 7, 2014 at 6:01 pm

Here’s a good analysis of the Bundy situation with interviews and high-quality reportage. As the link says, “context matters.” For those of us who do not embrace the “sovereign” view, that context is important. For those in the minority who want to be sovereign, why not just secede from the Union and get it over with? You’d be doing yourselves and the rest of us a great favor.

  • Delong December 7, 2014 at 11:01 am

    Truthseeker/Burton,
The sad reality of this is we vote the same way but you don’t want to see the truth. What ever happened to being a nation of laws? It’s no secret the big govt is out of control but Bundy isn’t the platform for the fight. He’s a crook, plain and simple. It’s easy to blame the gov I guess. You’re giving our political party a bad name! Do your research!
Last time I checked, public land is our land, not Bundy’s land when he abused a good system.

    • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 12:14 am

DeLong, I don’t belong to any political party. Our problems aren’t political . Tell me how Bundy is a crook! Arbitrary fees?

    • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 1:35 am

DeLong, yes laws, not statutes, codes, and regulations. Those are different than laws.

    • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 1:40 am

DeLong, this is one of the best platforms to fight. Had all the classic points… What is a better way to fight? – by voting for corrupt lying politicians that are selected and not elected? Ha

  • Delong December 7, 2014 at 11:42 am

True/False: Which agency administers the land Bundy has been profiting from for years without paying his “welfare rate” of $1.35 an AUM? Last time I checked it was a yellow square on the map.

Pretty simple to see how the courts imposed the court order and he refuses to recognize. Maybe I won’t pay my taxes anymore because I don’t like how those funds are spent. The FBI will let me skate if I riot for sure. Lol

    • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 12:19 am

DeLong, are you aware that new fees and other snake ways to shut people down, are the reason why ranchers and and farmers are getting shutdown. They try buying them out and slapping environs pretext on them, and fine them, and any way they can shut them down. It happens all over, nothing new. He is the last of two of fifty ranchers in southern Nevada

These libertarian types are just obsessed with this romanticized notion of the old independent cowboy and proud ‘murican in the wild west. Maybe bundy can rescue a wagon train from some wild indians? They often times take this notion so far that it becomes a delusion and that’s where you get these loony gun nuts that were “gonna make war on Obama’s BLM to protect the poor innocent old victim rancher.” It’s basically pure nuttery, and we see a lot of it in the ‘tea party’ crowd. If only they’d have been born in the wild west 200yrs ago I think they’d be happy…

    • modigliani December 7, 2014 at 5:30 pm

Great comments here today, Joe, particularly your point that none of these yahoos minded any of this when W was President. And, of course, your mention of the old west gunfighter meme so loved by the adamant and contentious was right on the money.

  • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 1:13 am

This isn’t about fees, taxes, money, cattle, desert tortoise, land, Bundy’s. This is about much more than that. Do you really think people that are saying a prayer before they stand against the federal mercenaries are willing to die over fees? – no, this is about much more. Do you really think that people that were following the story from the start of the week, that raced on the highway to get there were willing to have funds pointed at them by the govt because Bundy is a tax cheat? No – it’s about much more than what you’re mind has awakened to. Do you think that the Feds and fellow Americans, are willing to point assault rifles at unnamed protesters over unpaid grazing fees? – haha no, there’s a much bigger story here. A hidden truth that you fall to seek out because all you Bundy haters look for easy answers by your media and govt Its not so simple.

    • Joe Smith December 8, 2014 at 10:55 am

If only we could put George W Bush back into office I think you’d be happy again. Then you could get back to trusting the gubmunt, bc “a good christian white man would be in charge”

  • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 1:14 am

    Typo, guns not funds

  • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 1:32 am

I was one of ‘those’ . Someone who Harry Reid called a domestic terrorist. People who stand up for their rights and protest for freedom and civil liberties are now a threat to the establishment, and they call us extremists. Do you buy that?

Did you know that Harry Reid is invested in a foreign energy companies that plan to build on the Bundy grazing lands, and Reids former senior advisor is the head of the BLM, and them two along with Reids son stand to profit from kicking out the Bundy Family from what theyve been doing since before any arbitrary law was made. The BLM mind you that was in full military gear when they are not law enforcement, who by the way spent 2 million dollars on the Bundy operation when he only owes a couple hundred thousand in grazing fees. Oh and he pays his fees to the county, and not required to pay to the federal govt. It’s all arbitrary and not legit. See he has grazing and surface land rights and they’ve even sent him letters proving it. He didn’t sell his land to them when they tried to buy him off and isn’t getting pushed around like the other 50 rancher’s in southern Nevada and that no longer exist. He is the last one standing. I could go on. They say the desert Tortoise was Endangered bcus of the cattle ha which is laughable when you realize they used to thrive with the other rancher’s sheep and cattle. They thrive off a cow dung rich environment. Also, the BLM euthanized thousands of Tortoises that they rounded up a couple weeks before the operation bcus they said they couldn’t afford to keep their sanctuary open. I hope that puts it into perspective. I have much more

They would take him to court if they had a legitimate case against him but they don’t. This has been going on all over the place the govt is shutting down self sustaining people. Farmers and rancher’s and many examples and tyrannical oppression by the corporate controlled govt… So instead of following ethical means to handle Mr Bundy, they steal his Cattle, shoot two breeding bulls in the head, run the baby Calves to death from their helicopters and make a grave burying his Cattle, which is rightfully his cows. They also tried seeking that cattle at low price and the Utah denied the Feds from bringing the cattle they stole into the state. The BLM manage land, don’t own land and don’t own people’s Cattle. Does it strike you as odd that they need Snipers pointing guns at Protesters and surveillance in the desert and a free speech zone to curb free speech, helicopters and many hired Para military personal? It’s an over done show of force for one Rancher. It’s shows the govt cause is illegitimate. And if it’s hard to ever think the govt or mainstream news won’t do anything bad or lie, well studying history and certain events will change that blind faith.

It’s very significant bcus the people won when we marched onto the gates. They said they have authority to shoot. Like what? – authority to shoot people when we weren’t violent and were also unarmed. In the way back we had defensive guns if the govt shot. Sure we had Militia in the back, but that’s a constitutional right of the people to have. The govt had to back down. The people are sick of it and history was made. Just bcus the mainstream news keeps it hidden and downplays it, doesn’t mean it should be ignored. Sadly, people don’t realize how close to a revolution that becomes if stuff goes bad.

    • Joe Smith December 8, 2014 at 11:01 am

Be honest now, did you have any problem at all with the ‘big gubmunt’ when little Bush II was in charge. Wasn’t he the guy you could just trust in every single way? Isn’t your real problem with the (“muslim communist”) black president? Be honest now, If Mutt Romney was pres we wouldn’t have these problems right?

      • TruthSeeker December 8, 2014 at 4:44 pm

Joe Smith, if you scroll up I I addressed your dumb question already. I have the same criticism of govt no matter who the president is. You think a president makes a difference. The Bush family and Clintons and Obama are all buddies. They have have the same goals. Bush showed clear comparison to Hitler, Obama shows clear comparison to other tyrants.

No I don’t have a problem with Muslims and don’t believe any Muslim terrorist attacked the US on 9/11.

  • Cori G. December 8, 2014 at 7:24 pm

I was at Bundy Ranch on 4/12/14 on the day of the standoff with the BLM (which by the way is a private corporation – Puerto Rico. Look it up). I was there, in the good company of many others, who like myself, felt the need to take a stand and say no more. No more to what? How many rights have you given up because you haven’t taken time to notice or fight back? How many rights have you lost since 9/11? How many executive orders have been enacted since 2011? You have no privacy. You have no freedom of speech – there was a “Free Speech” zone set up on that ranch, enclosed in orange fencing. Freedom of speech is not a place, a zone, a specific area. This land grab is part of Agenda 21. Research that. It’s not a theory. I happened to be in the company of Ammon Bundy today – yes this very day. His story is your story… whether you know it or not.

    • modigliani December 8, 2014 at 7:46 pm

No, his story is not my story. The very foundation of a democracy is that nobody gets everything he wants. We all give up things in order to assure that everyone is safe and has enough of what they need. Those who are opposed to the democracy are those who are selfish and don’t give a damn about the welfare of anybody but themselves. They refuse to pay taxes, they snipe at the law – or break it outright, the demean and diminish the country of their birth but continue to take advantage of whatever privileges that has given them. No, I have nothing to say to Ammon Bundy. And I have spent hours researching this whole Bundy/sovereign citizen charade. You people think you’re like the early American revolutionaries, but you’re not. You live in the democracy that resulted from their actions. But you have no plan or intention to bring a new democracy to light by your own actions. You are mostly plagued with paranoid conspiracy theories, not the desire to form a new and more just government. Just secede and get it over with. If you don’t believe in the sovereignty of America, then you are illegal aliens anyway. Go form whatever you want to form somewhere else and leave us and our country alone.

      • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 4:58 am

Modgilian, this country isn’t a democracy. It’s supposed to be a Republic. Also, not about keeping everyone safe. It’s not the proper role of govt to protect you, that’s why you have the right to protect yourself. You have not studied the founding principles of this country and are brainwashed with with view like Russians had under Lenin and Stalin.

The founding fathers said those that give up liberty for security deserve and recieve neither.

      • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 5:01 am

      • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 5:09 am

It’s more accurate to say Bundy sovereign States rights. He hasn’t put forward the sovereign citizen thing. It seems you are conflating the two. It’s sovereign state of Nevada is what he says. States rights from federal government. It’s history you haters haven’t heard before I guess. States are independent of of the Federal Government and can govern themselves, at least they are supposed to be able to without the Federal Government bribing the the States with federal funding.

      • TruthSeeker December 9, 2014 at 5:13 am
