LAVERKIN — A two-car collision occurred Thursday evening after the driver of a red Ford Mustang failed to yield to an oncoming green Honda Civic near Farmer’s Market of LaVerkin, 495 N. State St. in LaVerkin.
At 6:55 p.m., the LaVerkin Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the collision, where the Honda Civic, occupied by two people, had been traveling southbound on State Street and collided with the Ford Mustang, occupied by three people, when the Mustang turned in front of the Civic. The Mustang had been attempting to turn left onto State Street, LaVerkin City Police Officer Jake Bulkley said.
Airbags deployed on the Honda and a female occupant hit her head during the collision. She received medical treatment at the scene but was not transported to the hospital.
Damage to both cars was moderate, Bulkley said. The Honda sustained front-end damage and was towed from the scene while the Mustang was able to be driven away from the scene and had only minimal damage to the passenger side.
The driver of the Mustang was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.
