CEDAR CITY – The Festival of Trees always has a little something for everyone, and with a silent auction, chocolate buffet, fire fighters, beautiful trees and vendors of all kinds, this year will be no exception. There will be dozens of decorated trees for the community to come and view which have been generously sponsored and decorated by many local businesses and individuals.
On Nov. 21 the Festival of Trees kicks off with a auction night open house from 6-9 p.m. There will be a world class chocolate buffet and silent auction to purchase the large Christmas trees. Everyone who attends will receive two free tastes of chocolate, with the option to buy extra tastes for $1. All proceeds from the sale of the large trees and the chocolate buffet will go to the fireman’s fund.
There will also be the opportunity to purchase small 3-foot trees and holiday wreaths. The proceeds from the wreaths and small trees will help benefit the Women in Business Scholarship Fund.
“For every tree, approximately two families will get a christmas, ” said owner Sharon Wasden. “That’s what it’s really all about.”
On Nov. 28 and 29, the public can view all the trees and purchase those that have not been purchased.
Aside from all of the Christmas trees, there will be holiday vendors with Christmas decor for purchase and there will be concessions. Children will have the opportunity to climb into the fire engine and blow the horn for a $1 donation. Another Christmas treat for the kids, and the little kid in all of us, will be a special appearance by Santa Claus both days of the festival. Proceeds from the Festival of Trees will benefit the Cedar City Fire Departments Christmas Fund to give local families a Christmas this year.
Festival of Trees will be held at Stonehaven Events Center, 647 South, Cross Hollow Road, Cedar City, Utah. There will be a small admission at the door, $1 for children ages 12 and under, and $2 for adults.
The Festival of Trees isn’t just a great way to get into the holiday spirit, but it is also a great way to give back to the community. Each person attending the event brings families in need one step closer to a brighter happier holiday.
