HURRICANE A 51-year-old woman who was involved in a motorcycle accident in Hurricane on Oct. 15 died as a result of her injuries, authorities confirmed Wednesday.

Cynthia Greco (see ed. note) was riding as a passenger on the back of a 2005 Harley Davidson on Oct. 15. As she and the driver of the motorcycle approached the intersection of 5300 West and State Street in Hurricane, the traffic light turned red. The two were following behind a Hyundai Sonata, and as the driver of the Sonata slowed and stopped at the light, the driver of the motorcycle hit his brakes hard enough to skid, which caused the motorcycle to fall onto its side, Hurricane Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said at the time of the accident. White was ejected from the bike. Both she and the driver of the motorcycle were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.

White was transported by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center but later died as a result of her injuries. Her body was transported to Salt Lake City for memorial services, a friend of White’s family told St. George News.

“Our deepest sympathy goes to the family as they work through this very difficult time of losing a loved one,” Buell said Wednesday in an email to St. George News.

Ed. note: The name “Cynthia White,” listed in the official police statement as a name used by the deceased, has been removed at the request of Greco’s family.

Mr. Bringhurst, we have received multiple requests for an update on this accident; it was not until today that police were able to confirmed the woman had died. This is an update to the original story.

Thank you for the follow up report, Joyce. This community desperately needs a news service to report on the traffic accidents we have here.
Obviously, driver education doesn’t work. So maybe showing the results of the stupidity or people’s actions just might. Too many people in this community don’t want to admit to the truth. Let them whine about your reporting. They are the ones with their heads in the sand.
Keep up your good work, please!

How about some compassion? Somebody’s loved one died and you are complaining about “old news”?

It’s very sad when we lose any one in our biker community. My prayers and thoughts to her family.

So sorry to hear this. Just shows that the one in control of the m/c needs to be vigilant at all times.

Unfortunately, when you are riding “two up,” it is almost always the passenger that will pay for the mistakes of the driver of the motorcycle.
