Carey Richards Kenney

Kenney, CArey Obit(March 13, 1971—October 6, 2014)

Carey “Mama Kenney” passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at 2:22 p.m. after a two and half year battle with brain cancer. She passed in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born to proud parents Gary Richards and Carol Hardy Richards in the Cottonwood Hospital in Murray, Utah. As a child Carey grew up in South Jordan and enjoyed attending sporting events for her older brothers, camping trips and spending time with family. Carey attended Bingham High School and later moved to St. George, Utah, during her adolescence.

Carey found and married her soul mate Timothy Devon Kenney in St. George, Utah, on February 5, 2000. They were blessed with four children Cody Ray, Colton Gary, Carly Dawn and Cooper Timothy. Carey’s greatest joy and legacy in life was being a mother not only to her children but their friends and the children for whom she served as team mom. Carey loved sports, especially football and enjoyed attending professional, high school and little league sporting events. She was the best mother, friend and wife in this world; funny, beautiful, nurturing and smart. She lead a healthy, active lifestyle and brought light (and a little bit of fear!) to all who knew her.

Carey is survived by her husband, four children and their beloved “baby” Butters; Parents Gary and Linda Richards and VonaDee Kenney; her siblings Mike (Jenny), Jeff (Lisa), Laurie (Johnny), Koni (Casey); Tim’s siblings Penney (Steven), Lyle (Jodie), Scott, Chris (Debbie), Tracy “Mount” (Rachelle), Ginger (Shad), Alan (Callen), Ryan (Karen). Carey was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, mother and step-father Carol and Tavish McGregor, and father-in-law Raymond Lester Kenney.
