Players to watch: Quarterback duo Hayden Gavett and Ben Longshore were effective last week. Running back Myles Burton had a big game against SFU last year. Joel Davis will also see significant time. Tight end Dalton Groskreutz added two more receiving touchdowns to his totals last week. On defense, the Red Storm are led in tackles by safety Aeryus Holloway (34). Defensive lineman Jake Miller leads the team in sacks (2), quarterback hurries (5) and tackles for loss (6). Cornerback Jacob Witham leads the team in interceptions (3). Linebackers Robert Metz and Garland Munns have 24 and 23 tackles respectively.

Players to watch: Quarterback Ryan Stanford has thrown for 892 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. His favorite targets are receivers Bobby Pospichil and Kyle Kawamoto. Running back Cole Tudor had replaced leading rusher Chris Tolbert, injured two weeks ago. The Clan is led defensively by linebacker Jordan Herdman who has 50 tackles. Defensive back Matt Isherwood leads the team in interceptions (2). Defensive lineman Jamie Puffer leads the team in sacks (3).

GAME OUTLOOK
Statistically these two teams could not be more evenly matched. Both are looking for their first win. Both gave Azusa Pacific good games. Both got blown out by Central Washington University. Simon Fraser was picked preseason to finish ahead of the Storm despite being swept by them last year. While Dixie’s offense showed vast improvement last week, the defense still had trouble getting off the field. While they have not been susceptible to the big play, they have been nickeled and dimed by run teams all the way down the field. The front seven must hold teams on first downs to little or no yardage. SFU relies more on the pass. Dixie plays better against the pass. That may be the key difference this week.
