The Dixie Flyers seem to be peaking at exactly the right time.

Thursday night Dixie avenged its only loss of the season by winning on the road at Cedar 1-0. Taylor Whitson record her seventh shutout of the season and Alexa Estridge scored the only goal of the match in the first half.

soccerEstridge, a senior, got her fifth goal of the season off a corner in the 19th minute of the first half. It is her 12th career goal as a Flyer.

The win puts Dixie firmly in the driver’s seat for the region title. The Flyers have 27 points with two games left, three points ahead of Snow Canyon, which has just a single game remaining. Cedar and Desert Hills are six points behind.

The front-running Dixie squad, 11-3-0 overall and 9-1-0 in region, finishes the regular season with a home game against Desert Hills Tuesday and a roadie at Canyon View next Thursday.

Cedar, 9-5-0 and 7-3-0, has lost two straight. The Lady Reds finish with a road game at Snow Canyon Tuesday and a home game Thursday vs. Pine View.

Snow Canyon picked up a crucial road win and broke a two-game losing streak with a 6-1 victory over Hurricane at SCHS. Jenny Stewart and Megan Weston each scored twice and Kyleigh Wittwer and Mishayla Faucett also notched goals in the rout.

The Warriors, 10-5-0 and 8-3-0, play at home against Cedar Tuesday in what looks like the second-place game, which means a home playoff game is on the line.

The Tigers, 2-10-2 and 1-8-1, must win their final two games (at Pine View and at Desert Hills) and hope PV goes winless the last week in order to get that fifth playoff spot in region.

The Panthers have the inside track on the fifth spot after a 2-0 win over Canyon View. Eliza Sterling and Taylor Bandley both scored foe Pine View, which improved to 3-7-0 in region. CV falls to 2-12-1 and 0-10-1.
