ST. GEORGE — Bikers Against Child Abuse are hosting a Keepers of the Children Bike Rally at the Virgin River Casino parking lot in Mesquite, Nevada.

“The Keepers of the Children Bike Rally is the St George Chapter of B.A.C.A.’s largest fundraiser that is geared towards bikers,” said Shots, Utah president of Bikers Against Child Abuse. “The poker run is an organized ride that has specific stops where at each stop you draw a card and at the end of the ride the person with the best poker hand wins the prize.”

Adding to the poker run will be bike games, as well as cash prizes. Among the prizes there is also a chance to win the 2013 Harley Road King bike.

On Friday, there will be a meet and greet from 4-9 p.m.

On Saturday, from 8-9 a.m. the day will start with poker run entry, bike games throughout the day, raffle drawings, music dj and bar.

Price for the event is $25 per person, with $40 for two people on a bike. The fee includes poker hand, two poker hands for those with two on a bike, entry to the bike games and a meal ticket.

“The St George Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse does what ever it takes to make the abused child not feel afraid of the world in which they live,” Shots said. “We let the child know that they are a part of us and that we have their back. If a child is afraid we are there no matter what! If the child has to testify in court, we fill the courtroom with their BACA family and tell the child to not be afraid that we are here so tell the truth.

“Tell it how it happened, and don’t leave anything out. The kids get it. We empower the children to speak out to help put these bad people away so that no one has to go through what our little hero did from that perpetrator.”

The money raised during the bike rally will help with therapy for abused children.

“It can consist of what ever is therapeutic for that child,” Shots said, “for example, karate lessons, football, a bike, dance lessons, and so on.”

Yes – what happened, I understand, is we were provided two different posters with details – one was last year’s and we didn’t notice that. I’m so sorry – and believe we have the story corrected. If not, please let me know.

Nice, they have a bar at the fund raiser. Bikes and Alcohol do not mix!!!
of course BACA is watching out for the kids though.

Just because there is a bar, that doesn’t mean folks will drink. Riding and drinking don’t mix, you’re right there. But you generalized bikers and drinking.

The SLC group I saw from a distance. They backed everything they claimed. They like to party but are a responsible group.
