Theft arrest leads to drug charges

CEDAR CITY — Cedar City Police officers arrested a 28-year-old Cedar City man Sunday night on charges of theft and drug possession.

Cory Norbert Wynn allegedly stole more than $700 in merchandise from D&D Smoke and More, 396 N. 2150 West in Cedar City, Cedar City Police Sgt. Jimmy Roden said in a police statement.

“Wynn was taken into custody at his home,” Roden said in the statement. “While on scene, CCPD officers recovered a portion of the stolen property. Additionally, marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was discovered.”

Wynn was booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility Sunday on two second-degree felony charges for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamine, as well as two class A misdemeanors for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to booking information, Wynn remains in custody as this report is published on $1,500 bail.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

    He probably will get a harsher sentence than Esplin who stole 100 times that amount.
