Region 9 soccer: Road win has Thunder back in region race

Desert Hills took to the road and beat Hurricane Tuesday night, earning three points for the victory and putting the Lady Thunder within shouting distance of the region leaders.

Brittany Terry recorded her team-leading sixth goal of the season for DH, which improved to 5-3-0 overall and 3-2-0 in region play. Kaley Brooksby recorded the shutout in goal, her second of the season. DH is at Cedar Thursday night. Hurricane, 2-6-1 and 1-4-0, is at Dixie Thursday.

Meanwhile, Dixie and Cedar each crept three points closer to league leader Snow Canyon. Dixie defeated Canyon View 4-0 with goals coming from Alexa Estridge, Aubri Challis and Cassidy Gray. Estridge scored twice and now has four on the season. Taylor Whitson recorded the shutout, her second of the year.

Cedar edged Pine View 4-3. The Lady Reds built a 3-1 halftime lead and held on for the road victory. Brooklyn Shakespeare, Holly Carpenter, Julia Hunt and Nicole Jenkins all scored for CHS, which improved to 6-3-0 and 4-1-0.
