Bob Thiel, 75, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014. He was born February 11, 1939, in Grand Island, Nebraska. He married Carol Powers on June 6, 1969, in Salt Lake City where she remained by his side until he passed.
Bob spent his youth in Nebraska and his family moved to Salt Lake City during his high school years. He served in the United States Air Force and graduated from the University of Utah. Bob loved to play basketball from playing with his senior games team “Old Rebels” to playing with his kids and grandchildren. Bob enjoyed fishing which he loved to share with everyone from Carol to neighborhood kids. Most of all, Bob loved to help people; without fail Bob would always lend a helping hand regardless if you asked for it.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Carol; children Robert, Tonna “Gabby”, Bryan, Jon and Randy; grandchildren Travis, Jeff, Taylor, Parker, Robert, Kaylee, Michael, Luke, Audrey, Brooklyn, London, Paris, Berlin, Carolina, Madeline, Liam, Madison, Linkoln and Carter; and great grandson Sawyer. Carol’s mother Reva and her other children, Sandi, Todd and Kim cared for Bob deeply and thought of him as one of their own.
Funeral Services
- Funeral services will be Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff, St. George, Utah.
- A viewing will be held Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 6-7 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services.
- Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
