ST. GEORGE — Gold Cross Ambulance transported three women to Dixie Regional Medical Center Wednesday morning after one car veered into oncoming traffic and collided with two vehicles just south of Parkside Circle on Dixie Drive in St. George.

Just after 9 a.m. a woman driving a blue Mitsubishi Outlander was traveling southbound on Dixie Drive near Parkside Circle when for an unknown reason she veered into oncoming traffic and struck a 2015 red Mazda CX5 SUV that was travelling northbound. The Outlander clipped the SUV on the rear left side causing the SUV to spin out and then come to stop facing oncoming traffic, St. George Police Sgt. Spencer Holmes said.

The Outlander continued traveling southbound in the northbound lanes until it collided head on with a 2012 Hyundai Sonata.

Scott Williamson of St. George was traveling northbound in his vehicle behind the Sonata about 30-35 miles per hour and saw the cars collide right in front of him. He had to come to abrupt stop, he said.

“It looked like she was going to make a left-hand turn here,” Williamson said pointing to a curb with no vehicle inlet, “but then she kept going and going. We ran over and had to force her door open. Her head was pinned between her seat and steering wheel. It looked like she bit her tongue. It took her about 3 minutes to wake up.”

St. George Fire Department, St. George Police and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

All three vehicles were solely occupied by a woman driver and all three were transported to DRMC. The driver of the Hyundai had to be extracted from the vehicle by St. George firefighters as a precaution for possible head or neck injuries.

The driver of the Outlander was transported with life threatening injuries.

“She was in and out of consciousness,” Holmes said. “It appears she was not wearing her seatbelt because her head hit the windshield at the top.”

At this time no citations have been written, but the driver of the Outlander is believed to be at fault for the accident, though it is still unclear what caused the woman to veer into oncoming traffic, he said. St. George police officers performed an accident reconstruction for further investigation of this incident.

Northbound lanes from Valley View Drive to Parkside Circle were shut down.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Sounds like Darwinism at its finest. Not wearing a seat belt, the drive on the wrong side of the road. Yep, obviously it isn’t HER fault. IDIOT.

The article states the color of the first vehicle as red and the one at rest with the blue one is also red sooooo , I am not positive which brands are which .

What I noticed is tho , that the engine of the Mitsubishi ( blue ) seemed to move farther into the passenger compartment than the other car .
Note to self – in the future buy the other car .

Prayers for everyone in the accident !

Farding behind the wheel takes a lot of lives. Saw a horrific crash once where a woman went up the offramp and flipped off the bridge down onto the freeway because she lost control. But her mascara probably looked great while she screamed her last. 😉
