ST. GEORGE – The driver of a small passenger car was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance Tuesday after a semitruck backed up over the front passenger side of the vehicle on 3050 East.
“We had a semitruck stop northbound on 3050 East,” St. George Police Officer Tyrell Bangerter said. “The truck was waiting for traffic to clear so he could back into the business.”
A small Volkswagen passenger car also traveling northbound on 3050 East pulled alongside the semitruck without the truck driver realizing it, Bangerter said.
“The truck started to pull out, preparing to make the maneuver to back in,” Bangerter said. “The driver didn’t see him. The car collided with the truck’s front tire.”
Bangerter said the driver of the truck went into shock and the truck rolled forward, across the westbound lanes and over the curb.
Southbound traffic along 3050 East was blocked for just under a half-hour. St. George Police turned one lane of northbound traffic into a southbound lane, leaving one northbound lane open to allow traffic to continue to flow in both directions.
“The driver of the Volkswagen car was transported to the hospital with an injury on his face,” Bangerter said. “The driver of the semitruck was cited.”
The Volkswagen car was towed from the scene, and the semitruck was pulled off the road to allow traffic to resume.

So the car collided w the truck? or the truck backed over the car?
The truck gets mildly hit b a volkswagon and goes into shock and the truck ends up across the street into a parking lot? W… was this driver on? Something is grossly wrong here.

Thank you to the nurse who stoped to give aid the the driver of the automobile. I am concerned that Gold Cross was the last to arrive on scene. One of there ambulance units were parked within 300 feet of this crash and one of their medics even walked right past the scene and did not offer any assistance to the off duty nurse. Instead Gold Cross Ambulance sent anambulance and medics from across town.
I highly doubt your story. If that did happen they were probably on another call and they get sued if they “abandon” their other patient to treat the new one. Thank the sue happy people for that bs

It’s the turbo combined with the DSG transmission. Not to mention 240 feet of torque. Did I mention 45 miles per gallon. This makes the 2013 Pass at trump a miniscule Simi truck. I bet if you asked those boys on “The Savings Side of The Freeway” they could confirm my statement.
The truck driver rightly so gets a ticket for his role in the accident, but We all know the VW ignored the Big rig while he was trying to back into the driveway. It is a very stressful thing to back up a big rig in traffic trying to see both sides of the truck at once and having someone pass while being oblivious to what is happening doesn’t help.
Lets discuss why the semi driver might back up in traffic into the driveway of the business here. some of these businesses are grouped so close a semi has only two choices. They can either drive in and back out into traffic, heaven forbid, or they can back in and drive out into traffic. He chose the safer option, but was caught by a driver that wasn’t aware of their surroundings. Who should be ultimately responsible for this accident occurring? Those who planned this business arrangement and those who approved and allowed the building of this type of complex with no truck access1 I say the truck driver should file a law suit with those individuals and the driver for not being aware of their surroundings and avoiding the accident. We all have seen the advertisement on TV saying if you have an accident with a semi come see them! I say it wasn’t the driver of the semi who was being careless, but the driver of the VW who was careless here and also had a responsibility to “be aware of their surroundings ” and participate in preventing this accident.
