SOUTHERN UTAH – A Kanab man died Sunday evening in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 70, mile post 70, in Sevier County. He was identified Monday as Carl D. Potter, age 74, of Kanab.
Potter was traveling westbound on a red 2009 Kawasaki KL650 motorcycle when the accident occurred, according to a statement released by the Utah Highway Patrol. Potter’s motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash.
A UHP trooper was dispatched to the scene of the accident around 6 p.m. Sunday. The victim was reported dead at the scene by an EMT who was traveling through the area. Witnesses told UHP that Potter died instantly in the crash.
Potter was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred, according to the statement. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
